Wah!, a singer/songwriter whose resume includes a stint managing and performing with Krishna Das, has emerged as one of the new bright lights in kirtan music. Her solo albums usually come in one of two flavors - either traditional mantras performed in her unique, warm style or spiritual pop music consisting of her own compositions. This greatest hits package highlights both styles, offering a wonderful glimpse of the many sides of this vibrant performer. Her soft, subtle vocal style is a perfect companion for the arrangements, which include dreamy atmospheres of synthesizer, harmonium, guitar and piano. At nearly 80 minutes, the album certainly gives you plenty of great music for the cost, including Wah!'s stirring renditions of the "Gayatri Mantra" and "Gopala Hare."
