The Girl in the Other Room- Diana Krall

THE GIRL IN THE OTHER ROOM is a new plateau in the career of Grammy-award winning singer Diana Krall. Although cover tunes comprise half of the album (including renditions of songs by Joni Mitchell, Mose Allison and Tom Waits), the other half is original material - a first for Krall. Composed with partner Elvis Costello, the singer exposes a more intimate side of herself through personal songs that deal with relationships, loss and exploring her sensual side. This is Krall at her most raw - the songs are much more earthy and bluesy than her usual fare and even the singer's smoky voice seems to have achieved a new level of expression. Backing the artist is her ensemble of jazz musicians including Peter Erskine on drums and Anthony Wilson on guitar.
